€153,750 for repair works on Limerick Piers

Limerick Fine Gael TD and Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, Patrick O’Donovan has this morning welcomed the announcement by the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Michael Creed TD that he has allocated €153,750 to Limerick City and County towards works at Kilterry Pier (€112,500) and Ballysteen Pier (€41,250).

The funding was announced as part of €2.8m package to assist 13 Coastal Local Authorities undertake and complete 51 development and repair projects on harbours and slipways. The package provides funding for maintenance and repair works in addition to supporting the ongoing development and enhancement of harbour facilities including some marine leisure developments.

“I welcome the announcement this morning by Minister Creed that he has allocated funding of €153,750 towards essential repairs at Kilterry and Ballysteen Piers. This funding also has an important social and economic effect for both communities, and I am sure will contribute to the ongoing development of marine leisure in the County and it will of course help in the promotion in attracting tourists to the areas.”
