€635k in funding for community centres across County Limerick.

Dec 8, 2022

Local TD and Minister Patrick O’Donovan has announced €635k in funding from Minister Heather Humphreys for community centres across Limerick.

“Today halls and community centres in Abbeyfeale, Dromcollogher, Granagh, Pallaskenry, Bruree and Kilmallock will see a massive injection of funds to their community centres.”

“Heather recognised that after COVID our communities didn’t have the same ability to fundraise. So she’s stepped in to help them. She has already given one allocation to centres across the County and today is coming out with over €635k more.”

Works across a range of areas are covered. Windows, heating systems, electrical, lighting, insulation and other works are covered by the halls that applied. This money will be spent with local contractors across Limerick’s rural parishes.

Minister O’Donovan said “Heather is ploughing money into rural areas including Limerick and it is making a big difference to businesses, families, volunteers and individuals all over our County. We aren’t talking about Rural Ireland, we’re delivering to it.”

Patrick O’Donovan added “Any community or voluntary group that wants to see what could potentially happen in their area with support from Heather Humphreys’ Department can call me and I’ll sit down with them to see what we could achieve. I’ve done it umpteen times across Limerick over the last number of years and we’ve been very successful, so I’d appeal to groups to get in touch.”

“Our rural communities, towns and villages have access to support and money that they never had. We need to make sure that we continue to get the maximum amount. Heather Humphreys as a colleague of mine has delivered to rural Limerick and I’m looking forward to her visiting here shortly.”
