Programme provides small grants to enhance facilities in communities throughout the country

Limerick Minister and Fine Gael TD, Patrick O’Donovan has announced that thirty one community projects in Limerick have been granted funding amounting to €152,942.

“My colleague the Minister for Rural and Community Development, Michael Ring, has confirmed that 2,106 community initiatives around the country have been allocated a total of €4,524,124 under his Department’s Community Enhancement Programme. This funding for €152,942 local community projects will benefit the people who need it most here in County Limerick.

“The Community Enhancement Programme provides capital grants to community groups to help them to enhance facilities in disadvantaged communities. It supports a range of activities in all areas of communities, such as childcare groups, playgrounds, recreational groups, sports grounds, landscaping, and supporting the elderly.

“I was delighted to hear Minister Ring confirm that it is intended to run the programme again in 2020. This programme, together with the other funds that area available to rural communities, including the town and village renewal fund, sports capital and rural regeneration, are all helping to enhance our towns and villages across Co. Limerick.”

“Over the last few years I have worked very successfully with Michael Ring in ensuring that we get the maximum amount of money for communities across Limerick, and this announcement is yet another example of this. I am going to continue to work with him and my other colleagues in Government to ensure the maximum amount of money possible comes to Co. Limerick.”
