€7.2million for Limerick under the Rural Regeneration & Development Fund (RRDF) – O’Donovan

Nov 23, 2018

Limerick TD and Minister Patrick O’Donovan has this morning welcomed the announcement by his colleague Michael Ring TD the Minister for Rural and Community Development that Limerick is to receive €7,167,477 for projects in the first tranche of funding under the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund (RRDF).

The approved projects are: Great Southern Greenway (€2,724,657), Murroe Community Hub (€3,816,451) and the Local Hub in Glenbrohane (€626,369).

The funding announcement this morning for Limerick forms part of the Government’s investment under Project Ireland 2040.

One of the main objectives of the Fund is to support projects which would not find the support needed elsewhere or to build on supports already offered elsewhere by Government, meaning more can be done.

“As a local TD and Minister I am delighted with this massive investment by the Government in County Limerick, one of the largest allocations across the Country. The Government has made a long-term commitment to rural regeneration and development and since 2012 and we have been investing in our rural communities under a number of different headings.”

“Minister Ring has also informed me that further shovel-ready projects will be announced for funding early in 2019, and funding will also be made available for projects which require further development to make them ready in time for further calls for applications under the fund. Minister Ring has told me that he intends to make further announcements early in the New Year, and this is obviously important for communities not included in this round.”
