O’ Donovan welcomes €225,000 investment in Cappamore Library and Arts Centre

Oct 25, 2012

Fine Gael TD for Limerick Patrick O’ Donovan has today announced an allocation of €225,000 to Limerick County Council for the refurbishment and extension to the former boys national school in Cappamore to provide a new library and arts studio.

The announcement comes following confirmation to the Deputy from the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government, Phil Hogan. It comes following a mid-year review of the Library Capital Programme by the Department.

“This is just reward for the people of Cappamore and the wider community who have campaigned for these works to be carried out,” said Deputy O’Donovan. “Anyone who has ever worked on getting funding for such work to be carried out knows that it is no easy task, particularly given our current economic situation”.

“The Ministers approval of the necessary funding today allows Limerick County Council to complete the formalities so that the works can start as soon as possible. Education is being prioritised by this Government. Within extremely limited spending options we are taking the steps to ensure that our children have access to modern educational and creative facilities”.

The allocation by Phil Hogan comes in the same week as the Minister announced €100,000 for water services in Newcastle West, Ardpatrick, Croom and Angelesboro.
