O’Donovan appointed to Public Accounts Committee

Dec 2, 2014

An Taoiseach Enda Kenny has this afternoon appointed Limerick Fine Gael TD Patrick O’Donovan to become a member of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), the Dáil’s most influential committee. Patrick O’Donovan has already served as a member of the Oireachtas Transport and Communications, Environment and Public Services Oversight Committees, and his appointment to the Public Accounts Committee is a significant promotion for the Limerick Deputy.

Speaking after being appointed by An Taoiseach, Patrick O’Donovan said he was delighted to be informed by Enda Kenny that he was putting his name forward for the Public Accounts Committee. “This is the most important committee within the Oireachtas and Limerick has been represented previously on the committee by people like Michael Noonan and Michael Finucane. I have enjoyed my work on the other Oireachtas Committee’s which I have served on, however I am really looking forward to this challenge. We are all aware of the work that the PAC has been involved in during the recent past and I hope to be able to make a positive contribution to the PAC in the time ahead.”

Patrick O’Donovan thanked An Taoiseach for appointing him to the Public Accounts Committee saying “I am delighted that the Taoiseach has recognised the work that I am doing in the constituency and in Dáil Éireann on behalf of the people of Limerick and I hope to bring my experience to date to make a positive contribution to the PAC. I am really looking forward to getting started on what I know will be a very interesting part of my job as a TD for Co. Limerick.”
