Community groups in Limerick can avail of up to €100,000 in funding to support the upgrade and refurbishment of community centres, local TD and Minister Patrick O’Donovan TD has said.

A new round of funding under the Community Centres Investment Fund 2024 was announced in June by the Minister for Rural and Community Development, Fine Gael’s Heather Humphreys.

Minister O’Donovan is encouraging local groups to submit their applications before the deadline at 3pm on Thursday 29th August.

“Community centres in Limerick play a vital role in our towns and villages and are at the heart of our vibrant communities. This funding provides a welcome helping hand to improve our local community spaces.

“With applications set to close on 29th August, I urge local groups to get their applications finalised and submitted. Whether it be to carry out small renovation works, energy upgrades, improvements to kitchen or toilet facilities, or otherwise, the fund will provide grants from €10,000 up to a maximum of €100,000.

“I am delighted that this funding has been made available by Minister Humphreys, recognising the importance of community centres, and the dedication and commitment of volunteers in Limerick

“Groups should visit the Department of Rural & Development website to avail of more information on the funding, including a helpful video to assist potential applicants.

“We are all well aware of the wonderful broad range of groups, events, and activities which our community centres play host to. This funding will help ensure they can continue to serve communities in Limerick, Minister O’Donovan concluded.
