O’Donovan welcomes allocation of over €5.5 million to Limerick County Council for National Roads in 2014

Fine Gael TD for Limerick Patrick O’Donovan has welcomed the allocation of over €5.5 million to Limerick County Council for National Roads in 2014.

The allocation includes €2million for Limerick County Council to carry out studies on the possible options for the future of the N69. patrick O’Donovan welcomed this allocation and he said that the N69 and the future connection to Foynes was of huge importance to the local, regional and national economy and the attention that the NRA was now paying to the road was very welcome.

Patrick O’Donovan also welcomed other allocations in this year’s funds including, an allocation of €100,000 for works in the town of Abbeyfeale, €465,000 for traffic calming in Templeglantine, €250,000 for the Killarney Pole to Barnagh, €35,000 for works at Wards Cross, Abbeyfeale and €20,000 for Bollane on the N69.

Deputy O’Donovan said that the funds which have been made available from Minister Leo Varadkar would be very welcome for the communities along them. He added that there were other projects across the county on the other national roads that he would be continuing to prioritise. Patrick O’Donovan held a meeting with the Minister, County Council, NRA and other public representatives during the week in relation to the issue of the Adare bypass and he said that he would continue to pursue the issue and other road issues for Co. Limerick in 2014.
