O’Donovan welcomes Heritage Council allocation for Limerick

Apr 29, 2015

Fine Gael Limerick TD Patrick O’Donovan has welcomed news he has received from the Heritage Council of an allocation of €26,600 to heritage projects in Co. Limerick under the Community Heritage Grants Scheme. Projects in Abbeyfeale, Crecora, Pallasgreen, Knockainey and Limerick City have all received allocations.

Patrick O’Donovan said the allocations would be very welcomed by the successful groups who have a variety of different projects and works planned across Limerick.

“The ten Limerick projects are among one hundred and ninety seven nationally and I know from speaking to the Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Heather Humphreys that she was anxious to have as many projects as possible accommodated and given she is from a rural county herself, she is very aware of the difference the contributions will make to voluntary groups and organisations across the country.”

Patrick O’Donovan said he hoped to see the allocations increase in future years with the recovery in the economy and the Government’s improved economic situation which was detailed this week in the Dáil in the Spring Statement.
