Fine Gael TD for Limerick Patrick O’Donovan has this Tuesday morning (21st October) welcomed the announcement that 35 projects across Limerick to share in the €31,000 of grant funding that was announced this morning by the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government, Alan Kelly TD under the 2014 Local Agenda 21 Environmental Partnership Fund. This grant scheme promotes sustainable development by assisting small scale, non-profit environmental projects at a local level. The projects are being co-funded by the Department and Limerick City and County Council.

“This scheme is an important contributor to local small scale environmental projects. This funding will make these projects a reality and I have no doubt that this funding will help communities to make a real difference to their local environment.”

Projects are selected for funding by local authorities, following an open call for applications. Funding goes to a wide range of local initiatives; including awareness and education projects, community gardens, waste reduction projects and biodiversity projects. A full list of this year’s successful projects is now available on the Department’s website www.environ.ie.
