Local TD and Minister, Patrick O’Donovan has said that “The official opening of US multinational Ortec in Newcastle West is a fantastic occasion for the town and the wider West Limerick area, and marks the beginning of a new chapter for the economy of the town.”
“Ortec have a long tradition of manufacturing from their home base in South Carolina in the United States, and choosing Newcastle West as a place for them to base themselves in Ireland and the European Union, marks a massive vote of confidence for our town. As a supplier to the life sciences industry and manufacturing to pharmaceutical standards, it will provide opportunities to be built with other industries locally here in the Mid West and also with the third level education sector.”
Minister O’Donovan added “As a native of Newcastle West and someone who has represented the town since 2003, I want to welcome the Brotherton family to our local area. I want to thank them most sincerely for choosing Newcastle West as their base and for the enormous investment that they are making. The Government here as supporting the facility through IDA, and Limerick City and County Council have also given their co-operation over the last number of years through the design, planning and development processes.”
“I must also thank the local promoters of the venture from Newcastle West who have stuck with Ortec, right from the initial introductory visit. They have helped to support the plan right from the start and welcomed the Brotherton family from the very start to our town.”
“Today is a great day for our town, and I know that the Brotherton’s, the Government through IDA, the Council and local people have worked very hard to make sure that that it has happened. Some may have doubted that this day wouldn’t happen, but it has and having worked closely with the project right from the very start of it, I am thrilled we have arrived at this occasion.”
